Aren't all Shockwaves the same?

Electrohydraulic Shockwave is the True Shockwave technology.

Most “shockwave” devices use radial (pressure wave) technology—energy that dissipates at the surface. These are not true shockwaves. Electrohydraulic generates a true shockwave: a high-voltage spark vaporizes water, creating a plasma bubble that collapses and emits focused acoustic energy at over 3,300 mph. An ellipsoid mirror directs it precisely to the treatment depth. As a GAINSWave certified practitioner, I utilize the Omni wave device. It is state of the art and the most comfortable device for high intensity shockwave therapy!

How It Activates Stem Cells

Electrohydraulic shockwave doesn’t inject stem cells. It signals your body to send its own.

The shockwave deforms cell membranes → ATP releases → growth factors fire (VEGF, TGF-β1, BMP-2, IGF-1) → chemokine gradients form → your mesenchymal stem cells home to the site, dock, multiply, and become the tissue you need.

No needle. No lab. No rejection risk.

  • The Regeneration Timeline

  • When                 What Happens

  • Seconds             Cell signaling cascade begins

  • 0–48 hrs            Growth factor production, stem cell homing signals released

  • Days 2–7            Stem cells arrive and proliferate at the treatment site

  • Weeks 1–3          Stem cells differentiate; new vessels form; pain decreases

  • Weeks 3–8         Tissue remodels—most patients feel the shift here

  • Months 2–6       Full maturation and tissue integrity restored

    • SESSIONS are  ONLY 5-7 minutes long!!

  • 1. How is electrohydraulic shockwave different from radial shockwave?

  • Most clinics use radial (pressure wave) devices. Those dissipate at the surface and aren’t true shockwaves. Electrohydraulic technology generates a true shockwave — a high-voltage spark creates a plasma bubble that collapses and sends focused acoustic energy reaching deep into targeted tissue. That’s what I use with the OmniWave device.

  • 2. How many sessions will I need?

  • Some people see results within the first session, however most patients see meaningful improvement within 4-6 sessions. Some chronic conditions may need up to 10-14.  We’ll tailor a plan based on your specific condition after your initial evaluation.

  • 3. Does it hurt?

  • You’ll feel nothing or a mild tapping or pulsating sensation during the 5-7 minute session. Most patients tolerate it really well. The OmniWave device I use is designed for comfort — it’s one of the most comfortable high-intensity devices available. Some soreness afterward is normal as your body’s healing response activates.

  • 4. How long is each session?

  • The treatment itself is only 5-7 minutes. Your shockwave only sessions will require about 20 minutes between set-up, treatment and clean-up.

  • 5. What conditions can shockwave therapy treat?

  • It’s effective for a wide range of musculoskeletal issues — plantar fasciitis, tennis/golfer’s elbow, Achilles tendinopathy, rotator cuff issues, patellar tendinopathy, IT band syndrome, back pain, neck pain and more.

  • 6. Do I need to come to a clinic?

  • No — I’m a mobile practice. I come to your home anywhere in Fairfield and New Haven counties. No travel time, no waiting rooms, no rushing.

  • 7. Can I combine shockwave therapy with myofascial release?

  • Yes, and I recommend it for many of my patients. I offer a combined MFR + Shockwave session ($275/60 min). MFR prepares the tissue by releasing fascial restrictions, then shockwave stimulates regeneration. The two work synergistically.

  • 8. Who is NOT a candidate for shockwave therapy?

  • Contraindications include pregnancy, children under 18 and patients with active cancers. Other precautions apply i.e. not going over implanted devices (pacemakers, pain pumps etc.). We’ll review your health history during the consultation to make sure it’s right for you.
